The Arsenal star met up with the 185-goal club icon.
Alexis Sanchez and Ian Wright were all smiles as Arsenal’s past and present met on Friday afternoon.
The former Palace and Gunners striker took to Twitter to post a picture of himself with the Chilean ahead of the final weekend of the Premier League season.
Wright scored 185 goals for Arsenal, as per the club’s official records, behind only Thierry Henry and seven ahead of Cliff Bastin.
Sanchez, though, has certainly found his goalscoring feet quickly himself since moving to the Emirates Stadium last summer.
| Premier League | Goals | Assists | Chances Created | Dribbles | Final-Third Passes | Appearances | Minutes Played |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alexis Sánchez | 16 | 8 | 77 | 115 | 621 | 34 | 2,859 |
| Olivier Giroud | 14 | 3 | 29 | 7 | 228 | 26 | 1,846 |
| Santiago Cazorla | 7 | 9 | 74 | 85 | 830 | 36 | 2,902 |
| Aaron Ramsey | 6 | 6 | 45 | 26 | 537 | 28 | 1,988 |
| Danny Welbeck | 4 | 3 | 30 | 39 | 226 | 25 | 1,667 |
As Opta stats show, Sanchez is Arsenal’s top Premier League goalscorer this season and will finish as such unless Olivier Giroud bags a brace to draw level with him (or more).
The Chilean has also registered eight assists, created more chances than any of his team-mates and won 115 dribbles. The likes of Mesut Ozil and Giroud may have been at a disadvantage in terms of playing time but there is still no denying Sanchez’s quality for the Gunners.
Now to see if the 26-year-old can write his name into Arsenal folklore as the likes of Wright, Henry and Dennis Bergkamp before him have done.
