Federico Fazio had a Premier League debut to forget for Tottenham Hotspur.
Today saw Tottenham Hotspur hand Argentine international Federico Fazio his Premier League debut against Manchester City.
Spurs snapped up the central defender for £8 million from Sevilla this summer but so far he has only featured for the club in the Europa League and the League Cup.
Fazio was brought in to try and deal with his international team-mate Sergio Aguero – but it was quite clear by full time that he had not done the trick.
City won the game comfortably. The final score was 4-1 with Sergio Aguero managing to score all four of their goals in a rousing performance from the Argentine.
He also got Fazio sent off. After a ball from Jesus Navas into the box Aguero was all set to tuck the ball beyond Hugo Lloris in the Tottenham goal.
But he was instinctively hauled down by Fazio and the result was a red card on his Premier League debut.
He certainly looked perplexed at the decision, but it seems that Jonathan Moss had little choice but to send him off after denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity.
