Well, Tyler Roberts is officially set to miss Leeds United’s relegation run-in to stay in the Premier League.
Roberts, a £4 million signing in 2018, suffered a hamstring injury in the 1-0 defeat by Leicester City last weekend.
In doing so, the Wales international will miss the remainder of Leeds’ season.
The Whites confirmed this week [official website] that he has undergone surgery on the problem and will be sidelined for around three months.
However, the 23-year-old remains in good spirits despite the knockback.
Here’s a photo he sent from his hospital bed, uploaded to Instagram:
One Premier League goal in 23 appearances this season illustrates that Roberts hasn’t been a massive player for the Elland Road outfit.
However, Leeds are under new management now with Jesse Marsch in West Yorkshire.
And although Roberts wasn’t enormously important under Marcelo Bielsa, the American, who subbed him on instead of Patrick Bamford at the King Power this past weekend, might’ve had big plans for the former West Bromwich Albion attacker.
The silver lining here is that Bamford is nearing full fitness after being out for three months and there’s no doubt that the 28-year-old – who netted 17 Premier League goals last term – could play a massive role in helping United preserve their top-flight status come May.
