Well, Gedson Fernandes remains a Tottenham Hotspur player.

The Portuguese midfielder is only on loan with Spurs but for the past three or four months there’s been speculation that the North Londoners would send him back to Benfica this month, half-a-season ahead of schedule.

Gedson hasn’t kicked a ball for Tottenham in the Premier League since the 2020-21 campaign began and it’s clear that Jose Mourinho doesn’t seem to rate him all that highly.

Football.London reported this week that he was still expected to leave the Lilywhites, despite featuring in the FA Cup win over Marine last weekend.

But for now, Gedson is still at the club and was photographed in training at Hotspur Way on Friday ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Sheffield United.

The Benfica starlet, who would cost Tottenham £42 million if they take up their purchase option, was spotted on the ground as Gareth Bale seems to hurdle him.

Leaving Mourinho’s side is definitely the smart option for Gedson this month.

Honestly, he’ll be lucky to play again in any competition this season if he stays until his loan expires and, at 22, regular football is vitally important.
