Costa featured in the club’s 2-1 win over Ferencvaros, in which Ramires and Cesc Fabregas struck the goals.
The striker may have still been on a high from a superb solo goal scored in Turkey against Fenerbahce days earlier, as he headed back to London.
Chelsea have one more game until the season begins, a pre-season friendly against Real Sociedad at Stamford Bridge.
Beyond that, Costa will hope to start when the Blues take on Burnley at Turf Moor next Monday evening, and will aim to be giving a similar thumbs up immediately afterwards.
