Leeds wonderkid Charlie Cresswell was involved in a brutal incident on Saturday, which left the Jesse Marsch favourite in serious pain.
The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Millwall, where he played 90 minutes in Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Hull at The Den.
Unfortunately, Cresswell was left with a black eye and plenty of cuts on his face following a high boot from Óscar Estupiñán – the Colombian received a straight red card for his part in the gruesome moment.
To his credit, the England Under-21 international played on for Millwall, and he has now been spotted in training looking like he’s been in the wars.
Leeds loanee Cresswell all bandaged up
Well, Millwall’s official Twitter account posted a photo of Cresswell earlier today, and it is safe to say that the towering centre-back caught the full force of Estupiñán’s studs.
As you can see, the Preston-born defender has several cuts to his face, a bandage around his head, and a black eye to show for his collision against Hull.
Proper Leeds, some might say.
Hilariously, Hull actually appealed the red card, but unsurprisingly, it was rejected.
Fortunately, Cresswell’s injury appears to look worse than it actually is, and he should be able to add to his 13 Championship appearances against Preston tomorrow.
Impressively, the Millwall No.15 has scored three goals in those 13 outings, which will surely catch Marsch’s eye.
Cresswell has a future at Leeds
In our view, Cresswell will return to Elland Road and fight for a first-team place next season.
The Leeds academy graduate is bossing it in the Championship, and Marsch has already made it clear that he is a big fan of the prodigy.

The American revealed that Cresswell is actually considered a first-team player by himself and Victor Orta, and claimed that the youngster is the “loudest” in training at Thorp Arch despite his lack of experience.
As quoted by Leeds Live, Marsch said: “We consider him a first-team player. Discussed that in our scouting meeting. Personality wise, he is not afraid of anything. Even the first session we had he was the loudest player on the pitch. Does not shy away. He needs to play.”
Clearly, this season’s loan at Millwall is just to ensure Cresswell gets enough game time to aid his development, so don’t be surprised to see him as part of the Leeds backline next season.
