Virgil van Dijk was in attendance to watch Liverpool make history for all the wrong reasons on Thursday night.
Jurgen Klopp’s side slumped to a 1-0 home defeat by Chelsea last night.
In doing so, Liverpool, the reigning Premier League champions, have now lost five successive league games at Anfield for the first time in their history.
This run of form undeniably has its roots in the fact that the Reds have been missing their best defender – Van Dijk – since October, along with Joe Gomez.
The big Dutchman couldn’t be with his Liverpool team-mates on the field last night, but he was spotted at Anfield as a supporter prior to losing against Thomas Tuchel’s side.

The Netherlands international, who earns £180,000 per week on Merseyside, has been an extraordinary miss for Klopp and co this season, culminating in the defending champions being a massive 22 points behind Manchester City at the summit.
But the 29-year-old will be at 100 percent by the start of next season and hopefully Liverpool can start making the right kind of history again.
