It was reported a month ago that Arsenal would be signing 18-year-old prodigy Omar Rekik.

Football London reported on November 18 that the Gunners had agreed a deal with Hertha Berlin to bring the young centre-back to North London.

The trail went cold on that front for a few weeks but it looks like there might be concrete movement on that front.

That’s because Rekik himself posted a photo on Instagram of his plane touching down in London on Thursday, ahead of potentially signing for Arsenal.

The same report from last month also added that Rekik has had personal assurances from academy director Per Mertesacker that he’ll get chances to train with Mikel Arteta’s senior side at London Colney.

Rekik hasn’t made a senior debut for the Bundesliga club yet but he has been a prominent part of the German side’s B team this season, starting eight matches.

He’s clearly well thought-of in Germany’s capital after making the squad for three senior Bundesliga games last season, though he stayed on the bench.

Arsenal have an abundance of exciting young players – and centre-backs, including William Saliba – so it’ll be interesting to see if this materialises.

Going by his Instagram activity, it looks a done deal pretty much.
