It’s been a long road but it looks like Arsenal defender Calum Chambers is nearing a return to full fitness.
The Gunners’ official website revealed earlier this week that he would resume full training after the international break a little later this month.
But Chambers was back out on the field at London Colney this afternoon ahead of Arsenal’s visit of Sheffield United tomorrow.
The former Southampton youth, a £16 million signing in 2014 [The Guardian], was spotted in a photo with Kieran Tierney.
But he didn’t look to be doing a great deal of – if any – ball work.
Chambers has been out of action since December of last year with a knee injury, but it’s encouraging to see him back on the training pitch in some capacity.

Even when he is fit, a different type of battle awaits the 25-year-old.
Mikel Arteta has an abundance of centre-back options right now and it’ll be so difficult for Chambers to play regularly, ahead of Gabriel, David Luiz, Rob Holding, Pablo Mari or Shkodran Mustafi – the latter two of whom are also injured – but you certainly wouldn’t back against the Englishman.
Quite a few players have come on leaps and bounds under Arteta, who only had a matter of weeks with Chambers before his injury, so it’ll be interesting to see if he too can reach a new level under the Spaniard.
