The January transfer window is nearly upon us, and with that, there’s a small chance of Arsenal bringing a new forward to north London.
What’s the story?
Well, it was the Evening Standard who revealed that Arsenal are interested in Lille forward Jonathan David, as well as Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
There has since been no update on Calvert-Lewin, although David has done something very interesting amid talk of him potentially joining the Gunners.
The 24-cap Canada international was recently pictured at the airport, holding his luggage as he showed off a Thierry Henry t-shirt.
We can see the Frenchman’s iconic knee-slide pose on David’s t-shirt, which certainly adds an interesting aspect to the rumours.
Furthermore, the 21-year-old once told L’Equipe that he grew up watching Arsene Wenger’s formidable Arsenal side, which included Henry and Patrick Vieira.
David said: “European clubs made me dream. I watched Barca a lot, Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal, with Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira.”
By the sounds of it, Arsenal have a good chance of signing the Canadian, as he seems to have a soft spot for the Gunners.
What could Jonathan David bring to Arsenal?

In our view, David would be a phenomenal signing for Arsenal.
Aged just 21, he is currently among the best goal scorers in Europe this season having already netted 16 goals in 27 appearances.
The New York-born attacker is really coming of age – it’s no wonder Mikel Arteta has his eye on him.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future looking bleak, and Alexandre Lacazette contract expiring in June, David would be a necessary signing.
Just imagine a frontline of Gabriel Martinelli, David and Bukayo Saka, with Martin Ødegaard and Emile Smith Rowe in behind.
Mouthwatering stuff, to say the least.
