Jordan Henderson has been spotted working hard in the gym at Liverpool’s new AXA Training Centre as he targets a return to action.

The England international – who earns £140,000-a-week at Anfield – hasn’t played for the Reds since the 1-1 draw against Manchester City on November 8th.

After that game, Henderson jetted off to face Belgium with England, although he was withdrawn at half-time of the 2-0 Nations League defeat as a precaution.

The £20 million signing from Sunderland has since failed to recover in time for Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Leicester, as well as Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat to Atalanta.

However, Henderson certainly seems to be working hard to build up his fitness – you can see the Liverpool No.14 training alone in the gym below.

Jurgen Klopp could definitely do with having his captain back soon.

Before his injury, Henderson had made nine appearances for Liverpool this season – his energy, tenacity and leadership skills would be sorely missed by any side.

WhoScored shows that the 30-year-old records 71.3 passes per game in the Premier League this season, with an accuracy of 86.7%.

Additionally, the Reds skipper makes 1.7 tackles every 90 minutes, and takes 1.2 shots per game – he’s a key cog in the former Borussia Dortmund manager’s system at Anfield, to say the very least.
