Jürgen Klopp decided to invite a number of Liverpool’s young prospects to the AXA Training Centre this week to train with the first-team.

The Reds boss gave Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Thiago, Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Georginio Wijnaldum and Andy Robertson some time off with the international break on the horizon.

As a result, he needed some of Liverpool’s young gems to make up the numbers, and a familiar face was spotted amongst the group.

Ben Woodburn.

The 21-year-old hasn’t actually played a competitive game for Liverpool since a six-minute cameo against Brighton on 13th May 2018.

Following that brief display, the 10-cap Wales international spent time on loan at Sheffield United in the 2018/19 campaign.

Then, in the 2019/20 season, he joined Oxford United on loan.

When that loan ended, he joined Blackpool on a short-term deal back in the summer.

Now, however, the Chester-born forward is back on Merseyside, where Klopp is clearly keen to have another look at him.

You can see the photo of Woodburn at the AXA Training Centre below.

Hopefully, the Welshman has gained something from his three loan spells away, and can make a real impression on Klopp.

After all, the Anfield faithful were once very excited about Woodburn.

The £12,000-a-week man burst onto the scene with a goal against Leeds in November 2016, which made him Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer at 17 years and 45 days.

Woodburn also scored on his debut for Wales, at a time where he looked like the next big thing to come from Liverpool’s academy.

Liverpool’s No.58 could still come good, in our view – let’s just hope he impressed Klopp in training this week, first and foremost.
