Could Leeds United still sign Liverpool’s Harry Wilson?

It appears as if Leeds United haven’t given up their hope of signing Liverpool’s Harry Wilson.

Only 10 days ago it was reported [Scottish Sun] that Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa had personally scouted him and Reds team-mate Ryan Kent during a pre-season win at Bradford City.

But with Leeds having an abundance of left-wing options, it makes more sense that Bielsa – if he was there – was watching Wilson, not Kent.

And United may have a bit of a boost in their pursuit of him.

Wilson impressed at Derby County on loan last season, scoring 16 Championship goals, but Rams boss Phillip Cocu all-but ruled out another move for him.

He told The Echo: “It will be very difficult, I think. I won’t say impossible, but it will be hard. We are still working to strengthen the team and there are a lot of possibilities still. I don’t want to name any names yet, but we are trying to get some players in.”

The less teams there are hunting the 22-year-old, the better for Leeds – and having impressed at Derby last term, they would’ve been a big threat to Bielsa’s side and others, even if Frank Lampard isn’t there anymore.

He was linked to no fewer than six Premier League clubs in a £20 million deal earlier in the summer [The Mirror].

But, with only a little over two weeks left in the transfer window, it seems unlikely that a top-flight club will come from nowhere to snap up the Liverpool prospect.

As of right now, another loan might be the most likely course of action and that’s another reason for Bielsa’s side to feel optimistic, given that they’re generally in the loan market.
