Aston Villa’s Philippe Senderos
New Rangers signing Philippe Senderos has told the Daily Mail that his aim this season is to pay as many games as possible as hopefully win the title.
The defender joined Mark Warburton’s side on deadline day, becoming their 11th signing of a busy summer transfer window.
He has been added to provide the Gers boss with more competition in a defence that was short on options before his arrival.
That kind of competition for places will be needed this season as they look to enjoy success in their first season back in the Scottish Premiership.
And he says one of his aims for the campaign is to help his new side to a title win.
“Hopefully, play as many games as possible and help Rangers do as well as possible, which is hopefully win the title,” he told the Daily Mail.
“We know the expectation about this football club is to come first, so we are going to work as hard as we do out on the training pitch, try to replicate it at the weekend and win as many games as possible.”
Rangers manager Mark Warburton
It now remains to be seen how big a role that Senderos has to play for Rangers team this season.
It is fair to say that the last few years have not been good for him, with his spell at Aston Villa particularly disappointing and he is not likely to be an immediate starter as a result.
He has a raft of Premier League experience under his belt though and that could prove useful to Rangers as they look to challenge for the title.
