Former Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos has praised Mikel Arteta and Edu for the recent recruitment they have done at the Emirates.
This summer, Arsenal have signed Kai Havertz from Chelsea, while last year, they brought in both Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City.
They have also recruited Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber in the current transfer window, but Senderos has praised Arsenal for being able to land top players from their rivals specifically, something he said they have not done in years in an interview with talkSPORT.
Speaking to the radio station, the former Switzerland international said: “A year ago when they signed Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus, you can see this didn’t happen from Arsenal for many years where you take players from teams that are winning or rivals.
“And we saw that a year ago and now again when you take a player like Havertz, who’s playing for Chelsea, and you bring him to the squad. These are players who have won before. They’re players who are coming with a big price tag.”
The Arsenal knock
It is not hard to see why Havertz wanted to join the likes of Jesus and Zinchenko at the Emirates.
There is a lot of appeal with Arsenal right now, so it is understandable that the Germany international could not say no when Arteta came knocking.

They are in the Champions League and came close to winning the Premier League last season. This is a young Gunners squad as well. They should only get better if they can keep hold of their star players like Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
Both forwards recently signed new long-term deals, so the north London club should be able to do that.
Ultimately, Arsenal are heading in the right direction under Arteta. Stay on that path, and more players from their rivals are going to want to join them.
In contrast, the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are still trying to find their way, especially the former after so many changes at the club over the past year. It probably makes the Emirates the dream destination in London right now.
