Nottingham Forest boss Philippe Montanier has been talking to the press ahead of the club’s clash with Aston Villa this weekend – with one man the clear topic of discussion.
Nicklas Bendtner signed for the club this week on a free transfer.
Wolfsburg’s Nicklas Bendtner on the bench
Forest have found themselves short up top after allowing Tyler Walker to leave on loan and Lars Veldwijk and Dexter Blackstock free transfers.
The Dane was however clearly in their sights and the former Arsenal and Wolfsburg striker signed a two-year deal this week.
Montanier spoke about the move today, suggesting Bendtner was hoping to get back to the form he once showed in the Premier League:
But will he face Villa this weekend. Bendtner has been training with FC Copenhagen recently but has not played competitively since February. Montanier believes this week may have come to soon for the Dane:
Which leaves him in something of a quandary up top. Forest look likely to also be without star striker Britt Assombalonga, who has picked up a knock:
It is therefore likely that Apostolos Vellios will be the lead striker this weekend, with the Greek striker still looking for his first Forest goal.
