Newly-appointed Philippe Montanier has been quoted by the club’s official Twitter account as saying that a new signing could arrive on Wednesday.
Having sacked Dougie Freedman back in March, Forest have taken some time to appoint their new boss, and after more than three months looking for a manager, they’ve got their man.
Forest announced the appointment of Frenchman Philippe Montanier on Monday, in what is quite the ambitious appointment from Forest.
The 51-year-old has managed the likes of Real Sociedad and Rennes, two big clubs in Spain and France respectively – and now he will be calling the City Ground his new home having penned a two-year deal with Forest.
The club’s first ever foreign manager spoke at a press conference earlier today, and after just 24 hours in the job, he was already asked about potential new signings arriving.
Get French Football News cited reports from L’Equipe this morning, which suggested that Montanier was pushing to make Bastia forward Floyd Ayite his first signing as Forest boss.
The 27-year-old hit eight goals in Ligue 1 last season, and the Togolese international – primarily a winger – would add some pace to the Forest attack should Montanier manage to land him.
Montanier revealed that, whilst he didn’t want to talk about signings, he did have an exciting update; Forest could confirm the arrival of a new signing on Wednesday, all being well.
