The Nottingham Forest boss insists his midfield star is staying.
Nottingham Forest boss Philippe Montanier remains defiant over the future of midfield maestro Henri Lansbury, as rumours of bids from elsewhere continue to pour in.
The midfielder is out of contract in the summer and the BBC reported this week that Forest had rejected a £2.5 million bid from local rivals Derby County.
Sky Sports then reported that Premier League side and former loan club Watford were also keen on his signature.
Nottingham Forest’s Henri Lansbury celebrates
Montanier was speaking to BBC Nottingham Sport after the defeat when he made his position on Lansbury very clear:
“For me the situation is clear. He has a contract with this club and we want to keep him here.
“He’s an important player.”
The midfielder has been one of the better players in the Championship this season and is rightly a wanted man.

With the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the ownership of Forest it is however no surprise if he was considering an exit from the club – who have now slipped perilously close to the relegation zone yet again.
Forest fans would be left devastated if they lost a player of Lansbury’s talents at this stage in his career – especially if he did end up at rivals Derby.
But it is looking increasingly likely, despite Montanier’s defiance, that he may depart the club.
