The Nottingham Forest owner has held a meeting with the former City Ground striker.
Stan Collymore has been revealing all about his meeting with Nottingham Forest owner Fawaz Al Hasawi this week.
He spoke at length about the plans he had for the club and also tried to get to the bottom of the recent failed takeover of the club by John Jay Moores.
But one of the more interesting things revealed by the former Forest striker was the apparent refusal of former manager Philippe Montanier to spend money raised by the sale of Oliver Burke.

Collymore stated on his website:
“I asked about the Burke and Lansbury money and aside from the disagreement with JJM, Fawaz made representation, at that point confirmed by Hassan, that PM was offered £6m from the Burke money to spend but PM did not want to spend it.
“Personally I found this fanciful at best, I’ve never met a struggling manger yet who wouldn’t chew your arm off for £6m but that’s what I was told.”

As Collymore suggested, this is a rather unbelievable statement. Burke, who was Forest’s star for the early part of the season, was sold for big money to German high-flyers RB Leipzig at the beginning of the season in a deal that enraged Forest fans.
Collymore went on to suggest that Fawaz was dismayed by some of the players brought in to the club by Montanier:
“He then told me in dismay of the signings that came in, to which I reminded him, however poor they were or are, of course the owner signs off on.”

Whilst Collymore struggles to believe the statement some Forest fans will probably have less trouble. Montanier did make some strange decisions whilst Forest manager and fans were not overly disappointed to see the Frenchman depart earlier this month.
But where is that £6 million now? Combined with the recent Henri Lansbury fee from Aston Villa the club should have money to spend this month.
Yet the transfer market is quiet at the City Ground.
