The Nottingham Forest striker has decided to represent the country of his birth.
Nottingham Forest manager Philippe Montanier has confirmed that Britt Assombalonga has accepted his most recent call-up to the DR Congo national team.
The striker has been called up by The Leopards boss Florent Ibenge and will hope to make his international debut in the upcoming World Cup qualifying game with Guinea.

Speaking about the striker’s decision this afternoon the Nottingham Forest boss Philippe Montanier was quick to congratulate him on his call-up – but admitted it was not good news for the club long-term:
The decision from Assombalonga will likely mean he heads to the African Cup of Nations in January – which could see him miss a significant stint of the season with Forest.
He has only just returned from injury as well, but Montanier eased fears over his fitness:
Forest fans will have seen this coming for some time. He was called up for fixtures with the DR Congo in August but soon became unavailable for selection with injury. Now he has seemingly made his intention to play for the African nation clear.

The Forest striker is the son of former Zaire international Fedor Assombalonga and was born in the African country so this will undoubtedly be a proud moment for the Forest star.
Fans at the City Ground will just hope he comes back in one piece.
