Nottingham Forest have lost three of their last four Championship games.
Philippe Montanier has said to Nottingham Forest’s website that Thomas Lam’s sending-off on Saturday reflects the struggles of his side at the moment.
Forest lost 2-1 at home to Cardiff City on Saturday evening.
First-half goals from Aron Gunnarsson and Joe Ralls helped the Welsh visitors into a 2-1 half-time lead, though Henri Lansbury pulled one back from the penalty spot late on.
But the Reds’ hopes of a comeback were arguably over on 58 minutes when Lam received a straight red card for a foul on Anthony Pilkington, after gifting him the ball.
Montanier’s side have now lost three of their last four Championship outings, leaving them 19th in the table, and the French manager says the 22-year-old’s mistake more or less sums up his troops’ woes at the moment.
He told the club’s official website: “I’ve got no complaints with the red card. Thomas made a mistake with the ball and stopped the player from getting through on goal so that is the rule.
“That mistake reflects the problems we are having right now.”
Overall, Forest have managed just one win in their last nine league outings – a 3-1 win at home to Birmingham City – and the former Real Sociedad needs to stem the tide.
They have two big games before the November international break. Next Saturday, Forest visit Reading and then host QPR the following week.
