Philippe Coutinho has posted a morale-boosting message on Instagram as Aston Villa return to Premier League action on Saturday.

Villa weren’t in action last week because their opponents – Liverpool – were in FA Cup semi-final action.

Instead, it was another small break for those in Claret and Blue, perhaps something they didn’t need given what happened in their last game.

Steven Gerrard couldn’t quite believe it when his side were beaten 4-0 by Tottenham, even though the first-half display was the best his players have produced under his stewardship.

Either way, ahead of Villa’s trip to Leicester City at the weekend, this was the message Coutinho sent to fans.

“We start the week working hard and with positive mentality,” said Coutinho.

For weeks now, Villa haven’t had anything to play for regarding the Premier League table.

But, as Gerrard has mentioned, there are some players that are fighting for their futures in B6.

To put it simply, it has been an abject season, added with Dean Smith’s sacking, so something has to give in the summer.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if some big hitters in the team are moved on, in other words, the spine of the team ripped out and a new one brought in during the summer transfer window.
