Some Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to Anfield legend Steven Gerrard bringing Philippe Coutinho to Aston Villa from Barcelona.

Former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho joins Aston Villa

Villa have announced on their official website this morning that they have signed Coutinho on loan from Barcelona in the January transfer window.

The former Liverpool attacking midfielder will stay on loan at Villa for the rest of the season.

The 29-year-old’s deal is now subject to completing a medical and then getting a work permit.

Coutinho is a former Liverpool player who played with Anfield legend Gerrard for the Reds.

The 29-year-old scored 41 goals in 152 Premier League appearances for Liverpool during his spell at Anfield.

The Brazil international created as many as 52 big chances in those games.

Liverpool sold Coutinho for £146 million to Barcelona, but the Brazilian has not had the best of times.

Coutinho even had a loan spell at Bayern Munich.

However, it seems that Villa manager Gerrard thinks that Coutinho would make his side better.

Coutinho is still only 29, which means that he is at the top of his game and will make the Villans better.

Villa are progressing and doing well under Gerrard at the moment, and the arrival of Coutinho is only going to make the Villans better and more creative in attacking midfield.
