Should Liverpool make a move for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere in the January transfer window?

The Liverpool legend has stated that he would have Arsenal and England international midfielder Wilshere at Anfield.
“With his fitness, I would take him,” The Express quotes Thompson as saying about Wilshere. “I would, at Liverpool. I think he’s got that much ability, I’ve always even a great lover of him.”

Wilshere has suffered with injury problems throughout his career so far, but the midfielder is now fully fit.
However, the 25-year-old is struggling for playing time at Arsenal at the moment and is not guaranteed a place in Arsene Wenger’s starting lineup.
The Englishman has hinted, as quoted by Goal.com, that he could leave the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window, with his current contract set to run out at the end of the season.

Wilshere is a very talented and promising midfielder, but do Liverpool need another player in his position?
What the Reds need at the moment are good defenders – a centre-back, maybe two, and a left-back.
Moreover, can Liverpool really take a risk on Wilshere given his injury record, and would Arsenal sell the midfielder to a direct rival for the Champions League places?
