Phil Thompson has said on ‘Where’s Jeff?’ podcast that Tottenham Hotspur will eventually collapse under head coach Nuno.
The former Liverpool star has said that Tottenham tend to flatter to deceive.
The former Sky Sports pundit has added that Spurs will endure a collapse sooner rather than later this season as well.
Thompson said on the ‘Where’s Jeff?’ podcast, as transcribed by Football.London: “Once they [Spurs] get a few wins…they can go for about half a dozen games unbeaten but then they can fall off very, very quickly. That has been the problem…and I would expect that somewhere in the near future.”
The pundit added: “You’ve kept clean sheets, the defence is well organised, Nuno Espirito Santo’s got them organised.
“I don’t think there is anything up with that. They are Spurs and they will have that collapse, sooner rather than later.”

Damning verdict
It is quite a damning verdict from Thompson.
Having said that, we must admit that Spurs have suffered late collapse in recent seasons.
Remember those two years when the North London club came close to winning the Premier League title under then head coach Mauricio Pochettino?

Spurs also lost the Champions League final in 2019.
However, Spurs have a new head coach now, and there are also some new players, such as Emerson Royal and Cristian Romero.
Nuno will know how close Spurs have come in recent seasons, and the former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss will certainly want to avoid the same fate.
Spurs have won all three of their Premier League games so far this season.
Tottenham have scored only three goals, but the North London club have not conceded any.
Nuno has made the Tottenham defence stronger.
The signs are very positive for Spurs.
For now, at least.
