Everton recorded a deserved win over Burnley in the Premier League on Friday night.

Phil Thompson has spoken in awe of Everton defender Phil Jagielka, who he believes has been an ‘absolute treat’ for the Merseyside club.
The 36-year-old came off the bench to a standing ovation from the Goodison Park faithful during his sides 2-0 win over Burnley on Friday night.
As reported by Sky Sports, Jagielka, whose contract runs out in the summer, will talk to the club in the next 10 days about his future as he could have played his last game for the Toffees.
Speaking to Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports News (04/05/2019 at 12:35 pm), former Liverpool defender Thompson shared nothing but positive thoughts about the player.
“He has been an absolute treat,” Thompson told Soccer Saturday. “There are not too many centre-backs that you have seen to stay at one club like Phil Jagielka. He’s been absolutely terrific and players like that you need at your club.”
Centre-back Jagielka has been a great servant to Everton over the years, but his game time has been limited this season as the club aim to take the next step under manager Marco Silva.

He did start the first game of the season when they recorded a 2-2 draw against Wolves, but he was sent off after 40 minutes and didn’t feature much after that.
During his time at Goodison Park, the former England international has made 385 appearances for the club, scoring 19 goals [transfermarkt], including a brilliant stoppage-time strike against Liverpool.
Nonetheless, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Jagielka, whose experience and calmness would benefit many Premier League clubs across the land.
