Pablo Zabaleta is leaving Manchester City as a club legend. The 32-year-old right-back will part company with the Citizens in the summer transfer window, as reported by BBC Sport.

The Argentina international defender is one of the best players in City history. Since joining the Citizens back in 2008, Zabaleta has won the Premier League twice, the FA Cup once, and the League Cup on two occasions.

The 32-year-old may be leaving City in the summer, but the former Espanyol right-back is still good enough to play in the Premier League.

According to The Telegraph, Zabaleta will move to London club West Ham United in the summer on a free transfer.

Sam Byram is the current first-choice right-back at the Hammers. The 23-year-old, who can also operate as a right-winger, has had injury issues, but when he is fit, he is brilliant.

Zabaleta, though, would still be a good signing. The Argentine would bring a winning mentality to Slaven Bilic’s side and would add valuable experience.

Liverpool legend Phil Thompson believes that Zabaleta would be a good signing for West Ham in the summer transfer window.

“You know you can rely on him, and he will do an absolutely terrific job for somebody because this guy has got focus, he has got great humility as well and he can step in anywhere, so if it was West Ham, they would make a terrific signing,” said Thompson about Zabaleta on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News HQ last Saturday afternoon (broadcast from 12pm, May 13, 2017).
