Should Liverpool make a move for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez in the January transfer window?

The Reds have just sold Philippe Coutinho to Spanish and European giants Barcelona for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £142 million.
Coutinho is one of the best and most creative players in Europe, and the Brazil international attacking midfielder will be a miss at the Merseyside outfit.
Liverpool legend Thompson has suggested that he would take Mahrez at Anfield as a replacement for the 25-year-old.

Mahrez is one of the best players in the Premier League and operates predominately as a winger.
The 26-year-old Algeria international has scored seven goals and provided as many assists in 21 Premier League starts for Leicester so far this season.
During the 2016-17 campaign, the winger scored six goals and provided three assists in 33 league starts for the Foxes.
Liverpool legend Thompson has spoken highly of Mahrez and rates him highly.

When asked if he would take Mahrez at Liverpool, Thompson said, as quoted by The Express: “Yes. I don’t know where he’d get into the side. But you can see him, on his day, he can be a match winner.
“He can but he’s not done it enough and whether that’s because he’s been unhappy there or whatever.
“But this boy’s got tremendous talent, you see the quality that he brings. He can take it from A to B very very quickly which relieves pressure at times.”
