West Bromwich Albion-owned Salomon Rondon and Sean Longstaff’s performances for Newcastle United against Cardiff City impressed Phil Thompson.

Longstaff featured for Newcastle in their 3-0 win against Cardiff at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The 21-year-old midfielder started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, and former Liverpool defender Thompson was impressed with the youngster.
Thompson has praised Newcastle striker Salomon Rondon, signed on loan from Championship club West Bromwich Albion, for his performance for the Magpies.
Thompson told Sky Sports about Longstaff: “Special mention for Sean Longstaff. I know he scored in midweek against Blackburn, but what a great display! A young lad coming through the academy, what a performance, honestly brilliant.
“A lot of young lads come in, take the easy way out, pass the ball back all the time and pass it square, but this boy was absolutely great. Got a good physique as well for the Premier League, and hopefully he will get many more games.”
Thompson told Sky Sports about Rondon: “Rondon was absolutely fantastic.”
