Everton recorded a goalless draw at Crystal Palace over the weekend.

Sky Sports pundit Phil Thompson has lauded Everton ace Gylfi Sigurdsson for ‘stepping up’ his game this season as he compared him with Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen.
It has been a standout season for the Iceland international, who has witnessed his team produce a number of indifferent performances this term.
Over the weekend, they recorded a goalless draw at Crystal Palace. This result followed their 4-0 demolition job of Manchester United the week before.
Speaking to Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports News (27/04/2019 at 2:45 pm), Thompson spoke about Sigurdsson’s improvements.
“I think he has always been a very good player,” Thompson told Soccer Special. “He has always been a player that I like.
“You talk about players that play in that offensive role behind the striker. He’s got the assists. We were talking about Eriksen, this boy is quite similar. You can say all you want about defending, he’s scored goals like that [against Manchester United] throughout his career.
“He’s got assists in him. I think he’s really stepped up. I think it’s his best goalscoring season. He’s somebody that you can build upon. When you’ve got someone that’s creative behind the front man.”

There are two more games of the regular Premier League season remaining and Marco Silva will be hoping his team can finish in seventh place.
High-flying Wolves, who beat Watford 2-1 over the weekend, occupy that spot at this moment in time as they are four points ahead of the Merseyside club.
A slip-up from Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will be needed in these coming weeks, but even if the Toffees don’t secure that European spot, it will definitely be an aim for the club next season.
