Rafael Benitez is out of contract at Newcastle United at the end of the season.
The Liverpool legend believes that former Reds and Real Madrid boss Benitez can manage any team in the world.
Thompson said on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports Football on Saturday afternoon (12:04pm, April 13, 2019) when asked if there’s any club in the world Benitez could not manage: “No, there’s not. He could go anywhere, this guy.”
The Liverpool legend added: “They have, at Newcastle United, a world-class manager.”

Benitez has been superb at Newcastle so far, and it is a credit to the former Liverpool and Chelsea manager that he has kept the Magpies in the Premier League for the second season in a row.
The Spaniard is out of contract at the Magpies at the end of the season, and it is imperative that the club hand him a new deal.
It is going to be hard for Newcastle to find a suitable successor to Benitez, especially if club owner Mike Ashley does not invest in the squad and sign better players to compete for a top-10 finish in the Premier League next season.
Newcastle are a massive club, and the fans would love it if the owner shows a bit more ambition.
