Sky Sports pundit Phil Thompson has expressed his disappointment at Leeds winger Jack Clarke following his ‘poor’ showing during his side’s 2-1 win at Rotherham on Saturday afternoon.

Winger Clarke, who started the Yorkshire derby, was taken off at halftime by his manager and replaced by Tyler Robers, who made an impact in the attacking third.

Nonetheless, former Liverpool man Thompson admitted that he was ‘looking forward’ to watching the 18-year-old in action but in the end was left disappointed.

“I was really looking forward to seeing what he [Clarke] could do,” Thompson told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports on 26/01/2019. “[To see Clarke] have a go at people, create things, get the ball. But he was poor, so poor.

“It was no surprise that they took him off at halftime and brought on Tyler Roberts.”

Despite the below-par display at the New York Stadium, Leeds showed great fight to clinch all three points despite falling behind through Semi Ajayi’s wonderful long-range effort.

But Bielsa’s men clicked into gear after the break, with Klich stabbing home from close range and then slotting home Jack Harrison’s cross, with four minutes left on the clock.

As a result of that win, Leeds are now three points ahead of second-placed Norwich City and six points ahead of third-placed Sheffield United.

For Clarke, for the majority of the campaign, he has been in top class form for his team, scoring two goals and supplying two assists from his 13 league encounters, according to transfermarkt.

His standout performance arguably came away at Aston Villa when he came off the bench to help his team overturn a two-goal deficit against Dean Smith’s side in December.
