Reds legend Phil Thompson raved about the quality of Mohamed Salah, when writing a column for Sky Sports, comparing the Egyptian to Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

Salah joined Liverpool from Roma in the summer fo 2017, for a fee believed to be in the region of £34 million, and he has been nothing short of sensational thus far, scoring 29 goals and chipping in with eight assists in 34 outings in all competitions.

The 25-year-old’s exceptional form has helped drive his side on to third position in the Premier League table, and it could be argued that he is part of the best attacking line-up in the top flight.

The Reds are also nailed on to progress through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, having won 5-0 away at Porto in the first leg of their last 16 tie, and if they are to achieve success on all fronts this season, they will need Salah to continue his devastating form.

Thompson labelled the Egypt international as ‘phenomenal’, when writing a column for Sky Sports, and compared him to five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo:

“It is just absolutely phenomenal what Salah is doing though. We haven’t seen a winger score this amount of goals since Cristiano Ronaldo was in the Premier League.”

With just 11 games to go, Salah sits just one goal behind Tottenham hitman Harry Kane in the race for the Golden Boot, and if he manages to finish the season as the league’s top goalscorer, whilst operating in the right wing position, it really would be quite some achievement for the former Roma man.
