Everton and Southampton are both currently ahead of Leicester City in the Premier League table.
Phil Thompson has told Sky Sports that Leicester City should be competing with Southampton and Everton this season.
The Premier League champions have struggled to repeat last year’s heroics, and currently sit in 15th place in the table.
Leicester are already 31 points behind league leaders Chelsea, which highlights just how big an achievement their title win was last term.

Some pundits have suggested that Foxes’ current position reflects the amount of quality they currently have in their squad.
However, Thompson insists that Leicester are underperforming – and they should be competing with Southampton and Everton at the very least.
“Most people would say they’re where they should be now but I’d say they should be in that second tier with Everton and Southampton.”

Leicester are actually only two places behind Southampton, who have also struggled this term.
The Saints have only accumulated three more points than Claudio Ranieri’s side so far.
Everton, meanwhile, have their eye on claiming a place in Europe, after making big improvements in recent weeks.
The Toffees are stationed in seventh place in the Premier League table, and won 4-0 against Manchester City in their latest outing.
