Could Son Heung-min have moved to Valencia before he joined Tottenham Hotspur from Bayer Leverkusen?
Neville joined the coaching staff at Valencia in June 2015, as reported by The Guardian, and left his role in the summer of 2016, according to The Daily Mail.
Prior to his role at Los Che, the 40-year-old former England international worked as a first-team coach at Manchester United.
Neville has revealed that he watched Son when he was working for the Red Devils and recommended the South Korea international, who can operate as a winger or as a forward, to Valencia.
“I first saw Son Heung-min when I was a coach at Man United and he was playing for Leverkusen,” Neville told Goal.com. “He was very impressive.
“And when I became a coach at Valencia, I suggested to sign Son Heung-min. He was the first player I suggested to sign at Valencia. I thought he was a fantastic young player.
“Our owners also knew him well. We needed a winger who has pace and the quality to score a goal. It never happened, but I followed his career.”
Son joined Tottenham from Bayer in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £21.9 million.
The South Korea international has established himself as an important player for Spurs and has played well for the North London outfit so far.
The 25-year-old scored 14 goals and provided six assists in 23 Premier League starts for Tottenham last season.
Son has played 57 times for the South Korea nation football team, scoring 17 goals in the process.
