Another who could have perhaps stayed back in Merseyside was £30 million summer signing Yannick Bolasie who, despite some bright moments, failed to justify his price-tag on this occasion.
The 27-year-old failed to impress for the most part, and former Everton man Phil Neville suggested on Twitter that the Toffees needed more from their star signing.
Bolasie’s performances are very much linked in to those of Lukaku’s. If Bolasie plays well then the chances of the big Belgian hitman finding the net increase significantly.
As far as the team goes, it is a tough period for Everton. Ronald Koeman’s side have lost four, drawn three and won once since the middle of September.
