Everton may face a huge January as they continue to struggle.

Pundit Phil Neville has told Sky Sports’ The Debate that he thinks Everton may struggle to bring in a top centre forward during the January transfer window.

Everton continue to endure a disastrous season, as they were hammered 5-1 at home by Atalanta in the Europa League on Thursday before losing 4-1 at Southampton on Sunday afternoon.

Caretaker boss David Unsworth hasn’t been able to steady the ship since taking charge, but he is left in a frankly absurd position given that Everton still haven’t found a new manager.

The Toffees sacked Ronald Koeman last month, but Everton look set to head into December without a new manager in place having failed to land Watford’s Marco Silva.

Everton sit 16th in the Premier League table, just two points clear of the relegation zone, and with no light at the end of the tunnel right now, fans are worried about a possible relegation to the Championship.

Despite a summer of spending, Everton’s squad remains woefully imbalanced, with a lack of pace and no top striker, having failed to replace Romelu Lukaku following his big-money summer move to Manchester United.

That means January could be vital for Everton as they look to stay up, but former captain Phil Neville has told Sky Sports’ The Debate that he is scared about the upcoming transfer window, as he isn’t sure who would want to come and fight relegation at Goodison Park.

Neville noted that Everton wanted to sign Diego Costa over the summer, but now they will be left scrapping around for a new striker in January, claiming it’s a ‘massive problem’ for the Toffees.

“The thing that I’m scared about is when it gets to January,” said Neville. “They’ve got a massive hole in their squad with the lack of a centre forward, they didn’t replace Lukaku. When it comes to January, who do they buy and who wants to come to Everton?”

“It’s a massive problem. In the summer, they were going for Costa, they were going for the top strikers in Europe. Now, will they be available, and will they want to come to Everton? What type of striker could Everton bring in?” he added.
