Everton beat West Ham United 2-0 at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Former Everton captain Phil Neville has taken to Twitter to congratulate Ross Barkley for answering his critics in the 2-0 win over West Ham United.
The Blues hosted Slaven Bilic’s team at Goodison Park on Sunday and were in fine form as goals from Romelu Lukaku and Barkley saw them to a 2-0 win.
The midfielder was unfortunate not to leave the game with two goals to his name after a super save from Hammers keeper Adrian had prevented him from opening the scoring in the first half.
Aside from his goal, it was an impressive all-round display from the 22-year-old, who has come in for criticism for his performances this season.
And Neville was keen to praise him on Twitter, saying he answered his critics in the best way possible.
Everton will now be hoping that this performance proves to be a turning point for Barkley this season.
The goal was just his second in his last 23 games, a disappointing tally considering he had managed 16 in his previous 100 before then.
He was much improved in this victory and they will be keen to see more of the same to ensure his recent poor spell has simply been a minor blip.
