Everton beat Watford 3-2 at Goodison Park earlier today.
Phil Neville has congratulated Everton caretaker boss David Unsworth for guiding the Toffees to victory over Watford.
Everton looked to be in huge trouble when they fell 2-0 down against the Hornets, but a tactical reshuffle from Unsworth saw the game completely change.
The Everton boss brought on Aaron Lennon and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to try and turn the match in his side’s favour, and the pair both did damage.
Everton first found a route back into the match when Oumar Niasse pulled one back, and then Calvert-Lewin levelled things up.
At that stage a point would have been welcomed by Toffees fans, but things got better in added time, when Lennon was brought down in the area, and Leighton Baines dispatched the penalty.
Unsworth’s chances of getting the Everton job on a full time basis have surely been boosted by the victory, and Neville was delighted for the 44-year-old.
Barton took a rather different view to Everton’s victory, though, suggesting that they got out of jail free.
Barton has been a vocal critic of Unsworth, and still seems to feel that Everton should look elsewhere when looking for Ronald Koeman’s replacement.
