Sunderland are not expected to invest much money in the January transfer window.
Phil Neville has told Match of the Day, which was broadcast on BBC One on 15th December, that he is very concerned for Sunderland.
Sunderland chief executive has confirmed the David Moyes will not have much money to spend in the January transfer window.
And Neville fears that a lack of funds could cost the Black Cats their place in the Premier League, as they need to add quality.
“I’m very concerned. I feel sorry for David Moyes because the players that he has at the moment are what he has to go with until the end of the season. They do need to add some quality,” Neville said.
Sunderland are currently stuck at the bottom of the Premier League table, after losing 1-0 to Chelsea in their latest fixture.
The Black Cats have improved in recent weeks, but they have been unable to get out of trouble yet.
Moyes has had a very limited budget since taking charge at the Stadium of Light, and it looks as if he will be looking for free transfers and loans in January.
Sunderland are currently four points adrift of safety, with their next match coming against Watford at the weekend.
