Leeds United mocked Derby for their play-off loss.

Leeds United were widely mocked after falling short in their promotion hunt earlier this month.

One of the critics was One Direction singer Niall Horan, a Derby fan who had a social media clash with Leeds earlier in the season.

After Derby lost the play-off final to Aston Villa, Leeds picked their moment to hit back.

BBC Chief Football Writer Phil McNulty took a dim view, describing it as juvenile.

McNulty insisted he was not simply ‘anti Leeds’.

Leeds’ banter was not to everybody’s taste clearly, but after taking so much abuse themselves, you can’t blame them for wanting to have a pop back.

This is unlikely to be the end of it. Leeds and Derby will meet again next season.
