The two defenders have helped Everton enjoy the second-best defensive record in the league this season.

Everton captain Phil Jagielka has told the Liverpool Echo that he thinks Ashley Williams will be his new long-term partner in the centre of defence.
Williams joined the Blues in the summer transfer window as they paid £12 million to Swansea City for his services.
He was largely brought in as a direct replacement for John Stones after his move to Manchester City, but there was also a sense of Ronald Koeman looking to improve a defence that struggled heavily under the last regime.

Alongside Jagielka in the heart of the defence, Williams has so far managed to contribute to the second-best defensive record in the league, and the England man says he sees a partnership forming.
“At the moment with Ash, even if there is a mistake or if things are not quite going right, I feel as though we are on the same page,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
“We’ll need to play a few more games together to define how good it is but I’m pretty confident. Looking at us both on the pitch, we don’t play the game too dissimilar.”

There is no denying that Williams has proven to be a smart capture for Everton so far this season.
Most importantly he has provided Everton with the kind of solidity that the defence often lacked with Stones in the team.
The money the Blues paid for his services was a bargain to begin with, but if they continue to enjoy as strong a defensive record as they have in their first seven games, then it will look like an incredibly smart piece of business.
