Speaking on his podcast, Phil Hay has shared what Andrea Radrizzani’s valuation of Leeds United amid an ownership shakeup this week.
The Italian has sold 22 per cent of his stake in the club to the San Francisco 49ers investment group this week, and while we don’t know how much that transaction was worth, Radrizzani has said that it’s more than £50m.
After hearing this comment, Hay claimed that the Italian values the club at an eye-watering £250m, and that £50m for a 22% share would seem like fair value.
“Our understanding has always been that Radrizzani values the club at around £250m, something like that, so as a basic calculation the addition of 22 per cent of the 49ers stake would give you a valuation of around £50m for that purchase,” Hay said.
“We did ask Radrizzani about this and he said ‘no it is more than that’, and again, it’s difficult to know the exact figure we don’t have any details or documents on Companies House yet, and I’m waiting for them to drop so we can get a bit more of the devil behind this.”

£250m is a lot of money, but as we know, the sky is the limit on what Leeds United could be worth.
Being a Premier League club is worth hundreds of millions every year, while Leeds’ plan to expand Elland Road to a 50,000 seater could see increased revenue for years to come, once fans are allowed back in grounds that is.
Of course, this valuation isn’t all that important until Radrizzani decides to sell up, but there has been speculation recently that Radrizzani’s tenure at Leeds may not last for too much longer.
Indeed, Hay has claimed this week that senior staff at the club think he could leave once Leeds are back in Europe, and that’s something he has targeted in three to five years.
