Speaking on his podcast, Phil Hay has been discussing Leeds United and their reported interest in Azzedine Ounahi.

The Whites have been linked with the 22-year-old World Cup star over the past week or so, and according to Hay, this is a transfer that is becoming more and more possible.

Indeed, Hay says that more and more people are telling him to keep an eye on this deal, stating that Leeds are very tempted to get involved in the race for the young midfielder’s signature.

Hay actually went as far as to say that Leeds negotiated the deal for Georginio Rutter with this potential transfer in mind.

Keep an eye on Ounahi

Hay shared what he’s heard about this potential deal.

“Yeah, there have been reports about Ounahi and from speaking to more and more people and with people speaking to us at The Athletic this is definitely one to keep an eye on I think. It isn’t in dispute at all that Leeds like him and there does seem to be a temptation there to get involved in this one,” Hay said.

“I got the sense that, to an extent, this was the rationale for making sure the price for Rutter was right because they didn’t want to leave themselves by paying so much for him that it didn’t give them any wriggle room for anything else.”

Dangerous

This could be a wonderful deal for Leeds, but it could also be a dangerous one.

Indeed, the Whites are going after a player whose stock is at the highest it has ever been.

Ounahi is coming off the back of an amazing World Cup in Qatar, nad Leeds need to figure out if his performances this winter have been a purple patch or a genuine reflection of his ability.

Leeds are keen on Ounahi, but they may want to tread carefully here as they don’t want to get caught in the trap of getting carried away in World Cup hype.
