It was only a matter of time before Raphinha started getting linked with a move away from Leeds United, and rumours have now begun to swirl.
Indeed, talks of interest from Liverpool have begun, and while we don’t have a firm understanding of whether or not these rumours are true, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a big club come in for him this summer.
Fortunately, Phil Hay has an update on the club’s view of the player’s future, and it’s positive news if you’re a Leeds fan.
“I’m not getting the sense that people are resigned to losing them. The club have just moved into a different environment where players like that can be poached for huge money by elite sides. I suppose in some ways it’s no different to PL clubs taking players from the Championship but as it stands, clubs out there could dangle Champions League football/mega wage rise in front of Raphinha,” Hay wrote in his Q&A session
“For what it’s worth, the club aren’t resigned to losing him. I agree that Leeds should try to retain talent like him. But they also have to be sensible about when to cash in if anyone was to big nuclear with an offer.”

Leeds aren’t resigned to losing Raphinha, and why should they be?
He signed this summer on a four-year deal, and while the big boys may come knocking, Leeds aren’t in a position where they have to sell.
Of course, as Hay says, they need to carefully weigh up their options about whether or not they want to make a quick profit on a player that cost them just £17m, but it seems as though they won’t be held to ransom on this one.
This is certainly an interesting update on Raphinha’s situation, and it will be intriguing to see how this all unfolds in the summer.
