Leeds United managed to pick up a 3-0 victory over Bristol City at Ashton Gate yesterday.

Phil Brown has told Football on Five, which was broadcast on 22nd October, that Leeds United needed a bit of luck to get past Bristol City yesterday.

Leeds won 3-0 at Ashton Gate in what was one of the shock results of the Championship weekend.

The Robins had been in fine form, while Leeds travelled to Bristol having lost their last three matches in succession.

However, Thomas Christiansen’s men upset the form books to pick up a victory.

And Brown claims that Samuel Saiz’s opening strike, which took a huge deflection before hitting the back of the net, was the bit of luck that Leeds needed to get back on track.

“If you look at the size of football clubs in the Championship, Leeds will be up there with the biggest,” the ex-Hull City boss said.

“They were desperate for this. Christiansen called for it, and he’s got a response. That first goal was so important and he’s got a bit of luck. It turns everyone’s attention to what you’re capable of.”

After his deflected first, Saiz went on to add a second before Pierre-Michel Lasogga completed the scoring.

Leeds’ victory has earned them a great deal of praise, and could get them back on track after a shaky spell.

The Whites are now in fourth place in the Championship table, and remain among the front runners for promotion.

Leeds are next in action on Tuesday evening, when they take on Premier League side Leicester City in League Cup action.
