Moussa Sissoko is enjoying his best season in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt.
Sky Sports pundit Phill Babb has admitted that he has been left utterly amazed by the improvements of Tottenham Hotspur ace Moussa Sissoko, who was once the ‘nowhere man’.
After a number of seasons of struggle, Sissoko, 29, is now beginning to prove his worth in Mauricio Pochettno’s side where he is being deployed in a midfield role.
During Spurs’ last Premier League fixture, their 1-1 draw with bitter rivals Arsenal, Sissoko produced a Man of the Match display by showcasing his strength, understanding the danger around him, breaking up play and keeping the game ticking.
Speaking to the Football Centre on Sky Sports News (04/03/2019 at 10:55am) former Liverpool man Babb was full of praise for the manner in which Sissoko has transformed himself.
“Wow,” Babb told Sky Sports News. “What a vast improvement that is. From a nowhere man to being one of their first names on the sheet. Power, pace, his intelligent passing. I just can’t believe the increase in performance levels.
“He looks a lot fitter. He looks like the one that can run 95 minutes+. What an engine on the guy. He’s been a revelation for them this season.”
Sissoko will now be preparing for his side’s Tuesday night Champions League second leg last-16 encounter at Borussia Dortmund, where a place in the quarter-finals is up for grabs.
While trying not to be complacent, Pochettino’s side have one foot in the next round after winning the first leg 3-0 on home soil, but they face a tough test in Dortmund’s back yard.
An away goal for the London club will surely calm down any nerves from supporters, but if they concede early then they will be severely tested by a strong opposition attack.
Nonetheless, over the course of the season, Sissoko has played 32 games in all competitions for Tottenham, helping them secure 13 clean sheets [transfermarkt].
