Tottenham Hotspur could sign Serhou Guirassy for just £15million – but he isn’t planning to leave Stuttgart in the January transfer window.

Serhou Guirassy is ready to stay with Stuttgart despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

That is according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who claims that Guirassy has ‘no intention’ of leaving early in 2024.

Guirassy has become the hottest striker in Europe, seemingly out of nowhere.

The Stuttgart hitman scored 14 times last season but has taken his game to a whole new level this term, smashing 14 goals in just eight Bundesliga games.

Now outscoring Harry Kane, the 27-year-old is in the form of his life and is unsurprisingly attracting major interest.

Tottenham target Serhou Guirassy not eyeing transfer

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg now suggested that there is a release clause in Guirassy’s contract which can be activated in January.

Fabrizio Romano now adds that the release clause value is just €17.5million (£15.3million) – an absolute bargain given his red-hot form.

Plettenberg does though note that Guirassy actually has now plans to leave the club in January.

The earliest Guirassy wants to move is in the summer, seemingly backing himself to keep scoring and then land himself a huge move at the end of the season.

That means Tottenham may face a wait to land Guirassy amid claims from TEAMtalk that Spurs are already exploring a deal.

Fulham and West Ham United are also thought to be keen but it looks like Guirassy will not be heading to the Premier League in January.

My view: Clubs will be wary of Guirassy purple patch

Separating a late bloomer from a purple patch can be pretty difficult.

Some players do just hit their best form later than others; some are able to find a hot streak of form but can’t repeat it going forward.

Which one is Guirassy? It’s hard to tell, even having been hailed as ‘phenomenal’ by boss Sebastian Hoeness.

Guirassy had never – across spells with Laval, Lille, Auxerre, Koln, Amiens and Rennes – hit more than 11 goals in a league campaign before this term.

Suddenly, he’s on 14 before the end of November and everything he touches turns to gold.

Interested clubs must now figure out whether they think Guirassy is just hitting his peak and can replicate this form in the Premier League, or whether they believe he is just in good form out of nowhere.

£15million isn’t a huge gamble for top clubs to find out, but maybe Guirassy staying until the summer will just give the interested clubs more time to analyse the Guinean attacker and his goalscoring prowess.
