Teddy Sheringham has told The United Stand that he would be ‘very surprised’ if Harry Kane does not leave Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window.
Sheringham believes it is almost impossible to see Kane staying in north London after the England captain told Daniel Levy he wanted out, per Sky Sports. And the Spurs icon feels the forward could secure his route away now that Euro 2020 has come to a conclusion.
Kane had wanted his future at Tottenham resolved before the European Championship, but Levy has so far refused to sell. The Telegraph report the Spurs Chairman is determined to retain his talisman, and that Manchester City will not be drawn into a bidding war.

Kane believes he has a gentleman’s agreement with Levy to leave Tottenham, according to the Evening Standard. The deal was struck last summer when the Spurs chief convinced him to stay for another year. Which would not be a surprise whatsoever for Sheringham.
“I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t move straight after the Euros,” Sheringham claims. “If he hasn’t got some sort of deal with Levy, I’d be very surprised. For him to come out and say what he said and then still be at Tottenham next year, I can’t see that happening.
“If it does, it might work in [Man City’s] favour, because he’s talked about playing with [Kevin] De Bruyne. That would make them phenomenal for the next four or five years.
“City need a centre-forward now with [Sergio] Aguero leaving, so we’ll have to wait and see really. But I’d be really surprised if Kane was still at Tottenham at the start of the season.”
Levy holds the cards over Kane future at Tottenham amid Manchester City interest
Pep Guardiola is in the market for a new centre-forward after Manchester City released Aguero. The Premier League champions are prepared to pay £100m for Kane, per ESPN. But they would also be willing to wait until 2022, if Levy does not lower his £150m stance.
Yet Levy holds all the cards over Kane and his future at Tottenham amid Manchester City and Guardiola’s interest. Even if Sheringham would be surprised, it will be up to the Spurs Chairman if the forward is or is not in north London next season.
The prospect of making Manchester City ‘phenomenal’ will also surely scare Levy from the idea of Tottenham selling Kane. The Citizens are already a supreme unit who were out of Spurs’ reach last term. A gap Levy will want to lessen, not make wider this summer.
