Andy Hinchcliffe has told Sky Sports that Arsenal academy product Eddie Nketiah is the ‘obvious’ player to look at if England U21’s are to be successful in the European Championships.
England’s young guns, potentially led by Nketiah up top, are set to play Switzerland in the group stages today.
A number of Arsenal players could feature from the get-go, including Nketiah himself and their rising star, Emile Smith Rowe.
Former Premier League defender, Hinchcliffe, labelled Nketiah’s record for the England U21 as ‘phenomenal’ and shared that he has been ‘really impressed’ with Smith Rowe.
“I’ve been really impressed with Curtis Jones this season at Liverpool, and Emile Smith Rowe at Arsenal,” said Hinchcliffe.
“Eddie Nketiah is the obvious player to look at. If you want to win these games, Nketiah’s goalscoring record of 16 goals in 14 caps is phenomenal at this level.”

These forthcoming games for the England youngsters will do Nketiah the world of good because he’s not getting the regular minutes at club level.
Mikel Arteta hasn’t started him in a Premier League match since December, whilst his other avenue for minutes – the Europa League – has also started to decrease as Arsenal progress deeper into the competition.
But given Nketiah’s record for England’s U21’s, he is certain to bag a few goals in this competition.
